Abstract
A Simple and sensitive Spectrophotometric method in visible region have been developed for the determination of Sparfloxacin in bulk and Pharmaceutical formulations. This method is based on the formation of a stable purple coloured chromogen due to the formation of an azo dye with Naphthy-ethylene diamine with diazotized Sparfloxacin. The chromogen observed maximum absorption at 554 nm. Beer’s law was obeyed from 2-10 μgm/ml.The correlation coefficient(r2) was found to be0.99956.The slope was found to be 0.03755 and point of intercept 0.09230.The results obtained with proposed method are in good agreement with labeled amounts when marketed formulation are analyzed and the results of analysis were validated statistically and by reproducibility studies. The results were comparable with those obtained by published method. Therefore this method can be used for the routine analysis of this drug in bulk and formulation.
