Abstract

Macrobrachium lanchesteri or locally known as “Udang Gantung†is popular in Nyatoh River, Setiu (5°35'24.0"N 102°47'11.2"E), Terengganu during monsoon season. Thirty nine samples of the shrimp with the weight (2.64±0.76) and length (5.51±0.11) were collected. From this study, the prevalence (41%) and mean intensity (1.0) of the parasites were observed. The parasites were collected and preserved in 70% alcohol for morphological description by using Scanning Electron Microscope (Joel JSM-6360LA) and Advanced Stereo zoom Microscope (Nikon AZ100). Recently, there were no reports of Probophyrus sp. infested on M. lanchesteri from Terengganu except on Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
