Abstract

Mukundpur forest range is situated in Amarpatan Tahsil of Satna district of Madhya Pradesh India. The range has geographical area of 589.71 km2 with forest area 111.55 km2. Thisstudy area is under high ecological stress for mining purposes.Hence forest resources survey is done by assessing the species by number of trees and its volume and regeneration. The other species of vegetations like shrubs, herbs, climbers are also assessed. The 275 number of trees with volume of 13.8 m3 per ha are observed. The established regeneration is 2442 number per ha is noticed. Majority of trees are below 60 cm of girth classes. i.e. 253 number per ha. More promotion of trees from young to medium and medium to mature age class is needed to improve the productivity through in-situ conservation. On the basis of this assessment past performance is evaluated and future management is prescribed. The status of species prone to over exploitation is also done in the management by using the principle of sustainable harvest.
