Abstract

Aim: In this collection, it is aimed to determine the effectiveness of simulation applications which will be used in education and application of mental health and  psychiatry nursing in the worldwide.

Method: The study chosen for this review follows a modified version of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRİSMA) statement. The review  included studies containing original quantitative and qualitative research designs, published in the English language, from 2006–2016.In accordance with this purpose, PUBMED, OVID, SAGE PUB, EBS-HOST, SCIENCE DIRECT databases are scanned. Scans were finalized in October 2016.

Result: Simulation applications have relatively high impact on developing strategies for coping with unexpected situations, gaining critical thinking skills, developing empathy and gaining clinical experience and professional identity.

Conclusion: Not only psychiatric nursing and clinical applications, but also in terms of facilitation of collaborative learning, it is possible to say simulation application are important and indispensable training technique.
