Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Physico-chemical parameters of hand dug well water during the rainy season months of (October –December, 2019) and dry season months of ( January-March 2020) in selected villages in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. A Total of Thirty (30) different well-water samples were collected in each period/season and analyzed using the standard methods prescribed by WHO and NSDWQ for the water quality examination. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the data generated. The findings revealed that, in both study periods, the Physico-chemical parameters of Temperature, PH, Electrical conductivity, Total hardness, Total dissolves solids, Chlorides, Sulphates, Calcium and Magnesium were within the safe limits for drinking water quality, whereas the mean value for all the ten villages for Turbidity, Total alkalinity, Phosphates, Fluoride and Nitrates were observed to be above the acceptable limits allowed by WHO and NSDWQ for a safe drinking water quality. Therefore, it is recommended that, proper treatment of these well water is expedient for healthy consumption and other domestic uses.
