Abstract

Empirical studies have exclusively discussed Buddhism and ethics issues around the world. Despite this, little is known about the relationship between Buddhism and modern science. To fill this gap, the present study employed a literature review methodology to investigate the relationship of Buddhism and modern science. The findings suggest that modern science and Buddhism have a unique relationship. This relationship can be seen in the relevance between science and Buddhism, which can be seen from three areas, namely regarding astrophysics regarding the development of the universe, physics, and the workings of the brain/neuroscience, which are based on analysis and research. In addition, various relevances are seen in terms of the sources of knowledge and the teachings of Buddha itself.
