Abstract

Rugby is a high-intensity sport interspersed with low-intensity activities. High injury rates in a team can interfere with training conditions and the performance of other players in matches. This study aims to determine the effect of physical characteristics on the risk of injury in 7s rugby athletes. The method used in this study is a retrospective cohort (non-concurrent cohort or historical cohort). The population in this study were all 7s rugby athletes totaling 86 7s rugby athletes consisting of 53 men and 33 women. The data analysis technique in this study used statistical analysis. Based on the results of the research on the analysis of physical characteristics using the t test, two of the three variables of physical characteristics, namely speed (X1a) and endurance (X1c) showed a p value <0.05, so there is a relationship between each (X1a) and (X1b) against Y. Then the mental characteristics data analysis has a value of Sig. each coping skills (X2a) and sleeping quality (X2c) on the risk of injury (Y) are 0.856 and 0.172 > 0.05, it can be concluded that H0 X2a and X2c are accepted, meaning that there is no effect on Y. So it can be concluded that Physical characteristics affect the risk of musculoskeletal injury in male and female rugby 7s athletes in Java, while mental characteristics do not.
